I'm hooked on dreams of myth and the machine of life.

My time dissecting brains has long infused my fondest memories. I love discovery, and feel grateful for the scientific method. After all, experimentation has lit the dark unknown, and rational thought has created a future of radiant possibility for all of us. One hundred years ago, it was mere reverie that people would walk on the moon and engineer the basic building blocks of life. Not to mention that we would invent drone-delivered gourmet coffee and designer diapers! Who knows what lies will become truth in the next hundred years?

Perhaps because religion and spirituality often defy description in data, these inventive visions fascinate me. Of all of nature's strange mutations, religion is a uniquely human idiosyncrasy. Its power to bind communities and inspire hope, its incendiary force in politics and war, makes for a capricious bridge to the divine. While my curiosity focuses on Judeo-Christian mysticism, I'm equally spellbound by Daoist traditions and the effortless path of wu wei. Entranced, as many are in the West, with the history and evolution of China, my travels to the Middle Kingdom left deep impressions of the country’s natural beauty, inviting people and rich culture.

And it probably goes without saying, I voraciously inhale sci-fi, fantasy, and philosophical fiction. Many characters have helped animate my mind over the years, including Ender Wiggin, Hugh the Hand, Mannie O’Kelly-Davis, Don Juan Matus, Hagbard Celine, Morpheus of the Seven Endless and many others. I am grateful to them, and the writers who brought them to life, for inspiring me and immortalizing humanity’s path in poetry.
